How does waxing work?
What is the appropriate hair length for effective waxing?
Are there any risks to being waxed?
Waxing should not be performed on individuals who have used Accutane within the last year (minimum). Please inform Kimbra of the use of any of these products within the last 6 months. If you are experiencing dry skin or have been exposed to the outdoors (wind and sun) please notify Kimbra at the time of service. Avoid sun exposure/tanning for at least 3 days prior and post.
Avoid heavy exercise/sweating for 8 hours prior and post. Avoid aspirin and other blood thinners. One may take an over-the-counter pain medication such as Tylenol or ibuprofen one hour prior to waxing. Remember, one can follow all of these tips and still have some post-waxing irritation due to hormones, stress, general skin sensitivity or other factors. Therefore, for special occasions, it is best to schedule your waxing at least 7 days prior.
What exactly does a facial do for my skin?
- Deep cleanses
- Increases circulation and detoxification
- Relaxes the senses, nerves, and muscles
- Stimulates the skin functions and metabolism
- Slows down premature aging
- Corrects or alleviates conditions such as dryness, oiliness, or redness
- Softens wrinkles and age lines
- Helps clear up blemishes and minor acne
- Deeper product absorption of serums and home care products
Why are facials so important?
The average rate of cell turnover for babies is 14 days; for teenagers, 21-28 days; for middle-age people, 28-42 days; for those 50 and older, 42-84 days. The general slowing of cell turnover is one of the causes of fine lines and wrinkles and the dulling of the skin surface. Aging of the skin is also influenced by many different factors including heredity, genetics, sun exposure, the environment, health habits, and general lifestyle.
Increasing the rate of exfoliation can diminish the visible signs of aging. It is encouraged to schedule a facial every four to six weeks; after that, at least four times a year, as the seasons change. Certain individuals may need more frequent or advanced treatments based on their own skin needs and goals.
A good facial to start with is Serenity of the Seasons or Age Rejuvenation. These facials will introduce and pre-condition your skin to future, more advanced treatments.
What can I do to maintain healthy skin when I'm in-between treatments?
The Skin Suite proudly uses the DiamondTome Microdermabrasion Skin Resurfacing System.
What is skin resurfacing?
Resurfacing using a DiamondTome Wand is similar to particle microdermabrasion and chemical peels in its results but without the adverse effects of loose particles, irritation and skin reaction. Unlike other exfoliation treatments, the DiamondTome Skin Resurfacing System uses no abrasives to contaminate you or the environment.
The Advantages of DiamondTome Wands Resurfacing is a wonderful alternative to laser or chemical peels because it is non-invasive, non-surgical and requires no down time after treatment. Normal activities may be resumed immediately. Your skin will have a radiant glow, free of irritation and loose particles. Clients experience softer, smoother and cleaner skin after the 1st treatment. Treatment series vary from four to ten sessions depending on condition being treated and the type of skin.

ABOUT ADVANCED RESURFACING & CHEMICAL EXFOLIATION
Am I an ideal candidate for advanced exfoliation?
How many treatments will I need?
The series can be a goal in itself for achieving results, or can be the pre-treatment preparation of the skin to maximize another treatment, such as a peel. Peels are more intense then resurfacing due to the necrosis (death of the tissue) and involve more down time then resurfacing treatments.
Are there ways to enhance my results?
Pre-conditioning provides a stable foundation for the skin while receiving care and determines the amount of restructuring that can be accomplished by treatment.
What results can I expect from these treatments?
ABOUT DERMAPLANING / EPIDERMAL LEVELING
What is Dermaplaning (or Epidermal Leveling)?
Dermaplaning is beneficial for those with rough, dry skin; superficial hyperpigmentation; mild acne scarring and those with fine lines and wrinkles. Removing the epidermal skin also allows products to penetrate more readily into the deeper layers. Pregnant women who want deep exfoliation, but are not allowed to use peeling agents during their pregnancy, may have a dermaplaning procedure.

ABOUT ECLIPSE MICROPEN ELITE™ TREATMENTS
What is automated Micro-Needling?
Automated Micro-Needling (also known as Collagen Induction Therapy or CIT) is a new innovation in aesthetic medicine for treating the appearance of fine lines, acne scars and improvement of the skin’s texture, tone and color.
During this procedure, tiny needles are used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to produce collagen and elastin. The skin’s repair process results in a thicker epidermis with a softer appearance of wrinkles.
Automated micro-needling also creates superficial micro-channels which allow topical gels, creams and serums to be absorbed more effectively, enhancing the effects in deeper layers of the skin.
What are the benefits?
The benefits of micro-needling are a reduction in the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, improved skin tone and texture and softer, younger-looking skin with fewer signs of aging.
Eclipse MicroPen Elite™ also has a positive effect on hyper-pigmentation as well as on hypo-pigmentation, acne scars, traumatic scars and stretch marks and generally creates a fresher appearance or glow to the skin.
What areas of the body can I treat?
Eclipse MicroPen Elite™ can be used on all parts of the body; Face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back.
How is the procedure done?
A sterile needle-tip containing 12 tiny micro-needles is attached to the Eclipse MicroPen Elite™.
Your skincare professional will apply a thin layer of topical gel to your skin and select the appropriate setting based on your unique needs.
Next, in a single motion, the pen will be gently pressed against the skin while simultaneously gliding in one direction until the entire treatment area has been covered.
What does it feel like?
The feeling associated with the Eclipse MicroPen Elite™ is similar to light sandpaper being moved across the skin.
While some areas are more sensitive than others, the speed of the reciprocating needle tip reduces discomfort while the applied hydrating gel also makes the treatment more tolerable.
How long does the procedure take?
The procedure takes 15-30 minutes depending on the size of the area treated.
What is the downtime?
Immediately after the treatment you will notice a bright redness to the skin.
The total healing time depends on the depth of needles used and the number of overlapping passes your skincare professional performs. On average, patients are red up to 2 to 4 days. Many patients heal completely in as little as 24 hours.
Utilizing a post treatment kit and recommendations provided by your skincare provider will help to speed up the healing process.
When will I see results?
Patients notice an immediate “glow” to their skin. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several days and weeks. Results continue to improve up to 6 months after the treatment as collagen production continues.
How many treatments will I need?
Some patients only require a single treatment, once per year to achieve optimal results. However, it is recommended for most patients to receive a series of at least 2-3 treatments spaced about 4 weeks apart.
For patients with deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks or acne scars it is recommended to receive 6-8 sessions at 4 week intervals.
